Video Lux, Ego Sum Lux Video! (I see light, I am the light I see!), by Jim Jeffers, winner of Best in Show in 119 Gallery’s 2011 Juried Exhibition.

“Intermedia Superhero” ~ review in Howl in Lowell.

This solo exhibition showcases a body of work created from 2005-2012, since Jim moved to Lowell, MA.  The work spans media and includes two dimensional art, sculpture-video hybrids, performance (and performance documents), inflatable plastic sculpture, and video. The exhibit Reception is March 3, from 3-6pm. There will be a Performance Night, in conjunction with the exhibition, with performances by Jim Jeffers with others, Friday, March 16, 2012, from 7pm to 10pm.

ROGER TIBBETTS

A professor at the Massachusetts College of Art, Tibbetts has shown his work at the Bernard Toale Gallery, Boston; Ruggiero Gallery, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Rose Museum at Brandeis Universty.  In addition, he has been the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts grants, a Guggenheim and a Louis Comfort Tiffany Grant.  His work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Fogg Museum, Harvard University; Hood Museum, Dartmouth College; Rhode Island School of Design Museum, and the Rose Museum, Brandeis University.

The Student Art Union presents its Annual Benefit Event:
Postcard Raffle and Silent Auction. Excellent works of art
submitted by current students, alumni, faculty, and friends
of UMass Lowell will be available, so be sure to show your
support and enjoy the exhibit!

This year the event will be hosted by an off campus site,
Printer On Prescott. All guests are welcome to join in the
festivities, and submissions are welcome before April 27th,
the date of this event.

The first installation of all 52 videos of project 52 for 2010 by artist Jim Jeffers, Jim Jeffers’ Fortress of Multitude: project 52 for 2010—and other Fantabiographies represents the sum of one performance / video per week for the 52 weeks of 2010.  The exhibition will display all 52 videos playing on 13 channels on various devices (four videos per device).  The video / performances explore a personal relationship with culture through a psychoactive lens, reflecting on current events global and personal, complex and childlike.  Driven outer liminal osmotic absorption of the essential thoughts and actions of the artist’s year is the expected experience.  During the exhibition the video / performance pieces will be singularly available for viewing on the internet at http://project5242010.Fantabiography.com.

Bio:
Jim Jeffers is an intermedia artist working with computer mediation, web-art, performance, photography and video in conjunction with conventional media. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.  Jim teaches at UMass Lowell, where he is Assistant Professor of Art & Design.  Jim resides mostly in Lowell, Massachusetts with his beautiful wife Jean. He is a founding member of Printer on Prescott Arts Research Collaborative & Artist Studios in the historic center of downtown Lowell where he works.
